Men’s Emotional Health

Men getting involved with therapy is becoming more common. Everyone, especially men, can benefit from exploring and identifying their emotions and how they impact their relationships and actions. Whether you sought out therapy on your own or you were highly encouraged to go to therapy by a loved one, I can make our time together valuable that caters to your needs.

Many of my clients seek out therapy to understand themselves and their emotional needs more thoroughly. When this happens, common ripple effects are improvements to their relationships, their mood, their perceptions, and sense of fulfilment.

Depression and Anxiety

When an episode of sadness is prolonged and intense, that’s depression. When a worried thought becomes loud and overstays its welcome, that’s anxiety. Often, people seek me out for therapy because they’re experiencing one or both of these. When I work with people experiencing these symptoms, I like to build understanding of the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are happening while also offering tangible steps to help alleviate suffering. This will be a collaborative process that will eventually lead a person to feel like the weight of their symptoms are lighter and more manageable.

Life Events

Life will inevitably have its ups and downs. If you’re looking at this webpage, you may be going through a particularly troublesome down time where the thought is “maybe I should talk to a professional about this.” Typical examples of life events are a breakup or a transition from one phase of life to another or a general feeling of unsureness when evaluating topics like purpose or fulfillment. Often, this can come in the form of a mid life or quarter life crisis. When I encounter a client seeking help for life events, I aim to identify patterns in their thoughts and beliefs systems and how this is influenced by their history and story they’re telling themself. With these insights a person can bring clarity to their stressors and navigate tough decisions with the benefit of being fully informed about themselves. Having a licensed objective ear goes a long way too!
